At the Humane Society SPCA of Bexar County, we make every effort to find the best home for the pets in our care. Sadly, many of the dogs and cats that come to us have been abused or neglected and others are injured or have chronic illnesses. These injured or ill animals are treated based on the funds available at the time of intake or illness.
Through the Michaels' Medical Fund, you can choose to make a one time or monthly contribution for a dog or cat with special needs. This will defray the costs associated with the provision of necessary medical care they need and deserve. Once these animals are healthy, they will then be available to the public for adoption.

Hi there! I am Tres Nachos, an inquisitive 3 year old Beagle mix with soft, fluffy ears. One day I was being mischievous, got out of my yard to take a stroll, and got hit by a car. Luckily, I was brought to the Humane Society SPCA of Bexar County and have since lost my right leg because of the injuries I suffered. I quickly learned how to walk on three legs; in fact, my canine friends are always telling me how great I’m doing. I am enjoying my forever home now, which I found on July 7th.

My name is Glue, because I was found under a building stuck to a rat trap. I don't remember how long I was there, just that the Humane Society rescued me. My whole left side was covered in thick, foul smelling, tar-like glue. Both my front paws were severely covered and matted to my body. The left side of my head was also covered in the glue, and my eye was stuck open. I got a long bath from the clinic staff to remove the glue, and then they made sure I was warm and full of food. I found my forever home on May 25th.
