The Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County, San Antonio, Texas volunteers are headed South to Gulf Coast Humane animal shelter in Corpus Christi, Texas. We plan to evacuate almost 100 pets on adoption transfer due to Hurricane IKE's impending arrival. The Hurricane pets will be available for adoption Thursday 9-11-08.

Humane Society is the lead organization. Eleven of the largest animal organizations in Bexar County are working to enhance plans to reach"no kill by 2012". We are strategically planning capacity building of 5 adoption guarantee organizations so we can "adoption transfer" more pets out of our overwhelmed local government facilities. At the San Antonio Fiesta River Parade we were joined by 50 friends and supporters to cheer our Humane Society Float entry. Fun was had by all including our canine friends of the El Rey Fido Royal Court and their families.

El Rey Fido contestants are racing fo the robes. We will announce El Rey Fido and the Royal Court April 2!!! The Coronation Cerimony is April 12 at the Humane Society SPCA Campus, 4804 Fredericksburg Road, SA, TX. 78229, at 2 PM. I can hear the trumpets now......

The Humane Society SPCA Opens for adoptions 7 days a week. Hours Noon til 7PM All dogs over one year old will be Monday Mutts Specials at $25 per dog adoption. Adoption Package valued at over $300 included!!

WOW! Bob, a recently rescued, terrific 10 year old cat and Ferdinand, an older big red dog, who has been with us at the Humane Society SPCA over a year, have found their new forever homes in San Antonio Texas with very special folks.

The recent local cat mutilations are horrific. The Humane Society SPCA is offering a $1000 reward to help encourage anyone with information to come forward. If you would like to help with cases like this, go to the "TAKE ACTION" button above and help create an incentive for informants to come forward and testify.

Marie and Jessie were two fluffy white 7 year old standard poodles adopted March 2007 to a family in Ontario Canada. Today we got a photo of them playing in the snow. Their owner who passed away would be comforted to know they stayed together and are so happy in their new home.

The Husky, Jake, who spent nearly 10 months waiting for his owners to return to a McDonalds Restaurant in NW San Antonio, has been adopted by Terry and Joyce who have had a "rescue" husky before that died of old age. It is a miracle of amazing proportions to rescue, neuter and adopt a large husky to the right home in just 3 days! That dog has many guardian angels.
